Very loud if you need it (sounds exactly like an electronic commercial fire alarm). If you've never tried one before, they take a little more air than a standard pea whistle at full volume. But it has two tones--blowing softly produces a type of high pitch train whistle sound.

I like the finger whistle over using a lanyard around my neck, usually with the lanyard wrapped around my hand. Great sound.
